I am never making boxed brownies again. Or brownies with flour again!

Black Bean Brownies {Gluten Free and Dairy Free}
These black bean brownies are SO delicious you would never know there’s no flour or dairy in them!
I even tested this recipe out on two separate groups – both couldn’t guess the “secret ingredient” and both groups thought they were the most delicious brownies they had ever tried.

Black Bean Brownie Sundaes {Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free}


1 (14 oz) canned low-sodium black beans, rinsed and drained
2 large eggs (organic, free-range is best)
1/2 cup cocoa powder (highest quality is best)
3/4 cup Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Sugar (or white sugar)
2 teaspoons coconut oil (or veggie oil)
1 tablespoon unsweetened almond milk (or coconut, or soy)
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground coffee or instant coffee
1 cup semisweet non-dairy chocolate chips, divided


1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Grease a nonstick 8 x 8-inch square baking pan with baking spray and line with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on all sides.

2. Blend the black beans, eggs, cocoa powder, sugar, oil, almond milk, balsamic, baking soda, baking powder and coffee in the blender until smooth and pour into a bowl. Fold in 1/2 cup chocolate chips until combined. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips evenly over the top of the brownies.

3. Bake the brownies until a toothpick comes out clean, about 35 to 40 minutes. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing them into squares.

4. Top with dairy-free ice cream of choice. I love Trader Joe’s Soy Vanilla Ice Cream or Trader Joe’s Chocolate (or Strawberry!) Coconut Milk Ice Cream. Add some chopped nuts and more chocolate chips is you’re feeling daring.
